Ralf König joined Hach Lange 1992 and was responsible for R&D, tactical marketing, product management, strategic and vertical marketing and now-a-days for regulatory affairs. Ralf Koenig has long term experience on waste water and drinking water,power, dairy, sugar, biogas and pulp & paper market. He was responsible as Vertical Market Manager for the preparation of deep dive market analysis’s to understand processes and analytical needs of these branches and the business development as well. Intensive contacts to opinion leaders, EU authorities, EU regulators, industrial and municipal associations and scientific working groups have been a basis for this work. During that time he was also responsible for analytical demands on agriculture biogas plants to increase yield of bio methane production and real time water monitoring for drinking water services. Ralf Koenig has several years of experience regarding usage of online process analysers/sensors and laboratory based measurement equipment and special developments to link sensor technologies with data analyses & monitoring tools to optimised water treatment (RTC – Real Time Control). Ralf König has a degree as Dipl.-Chemist and worked several years in the field of chemical water analysis and water sampling, planning and execution of water measurements campaigns. He is also familiar with the planning and execution of air and industrial emission measurement campaigns inclusive report out of results. During his R&D responsibility he developed new analytical test methods (e.g. AOX and TOC cuvette tests for water quality testing). In 2012 Ralf Koenig has taken over position as Director Regulatory Affairs Water. He is experienced in European and national water legislation, regulatory and public affairs. He supports governmental hearings and national/international advisory committees with technical expert testimonies as monitoring expert. Good contacts to EU Commission (e.g. DG Environment on water legislation, DG Enterprise on REACH) and committees of EU Parliament, NGO’s and European and national associations. He is leading the Hach Lange REACH authorisation group to apply for authorisation for substances of very high concerns according REACH annex XIV list.
