Born in Foggia (Italy), 1962. Degree in Physics at the University of Pisa, Italy with a thesis on the application of radio frequency spectroscopy techniques to study the adsorption/desorption properties of polymer surfaces. Ph.D. in Microsystem Engineering at the Scuola Superiore S.Anna, Pisa, Italy, working on the realization of an array of micromachined neural electrodes interfacing the Peripheral Nervous System with external robotic limb (“Neural Prosthesis”). Interests and expertise focusing on sensors/biosensors, silicon micromachining and marine technologies. From 1990 to 1996: post doc and research fellow. From 1997 to 2002: Scientific Director of Technobiochip s.c.ar.l., industrial research in bioelectronics and biosensors. Management of the company and scientific direction as well. On 2002 I founded firstly Ethics Molecular Biotechnology s.r.l., and subsequently (2004) Edge Consulting s.r.l., start-up companies, biosensor applications in diagnostics and proteomics and market analysis in pharmaceutical field. On 2010 I co-founded EdgeLab s.r.l. (www.edgelab.eu), sea technology (autonomous underwater robotic, marine monitoring, sensors) and marine research. Since 2002: consultant of public bodies, companies and academic institutions in scientific and RTD projects as technology expert: technology-market analysis, Business Plan preparation, start up of R&D laboratories (sensors and microsystem technologies) In parallel: following my deep passion for sea, since 2001 till 2007 I have owned and managed the Elba Diving Center, the biggest diving center of Isle of Elba and one of the Italy’s greatest. More than 30 years of diving experience in the Mediterranean Sea and outside. On 2005 I took part to the expedition that brought to the localization and identifying of the Italian battleship “Regina Margherita”, sunken in the sea of Valona (Albania), on 1916.
